Super GT 2009 Round 9 - Motegi

2nd Place! Woo Hoo. On the podium again. Starting from 4th in a tough grid the RE-A team of Nobuteru Taniguchi and Ryo Orime set out to hunt down the competition.

Super Autobacs Garaiya failed today leaving the championship within reach.
The Daishin Ferrari has always been fast at times this year and they took the race by only the shortest difference. So without the extra five points from the first place.... I now officially hate Ferrari. The other Gainer Ferrari couldn't hold off the Lexus IS. So.

The manufacturers championship goes to....
Well. 88+15+3=106 for RE-Amemiya.... = 2nd place... Damn Damn Damn Ferrari.
But the 3rd from Team Banoh IS with Orido at the wheel saw 98+11+whatever. = more than the 10 gives them the series win. Grrrr.

Drivers saw Orido 85 and Taniguchi 83.
Check the links over the next few days for more. Digest Movie is Here. Check the 300 class finish.
So Super GT is over.... Time Attack Season starts.
Will Amemiya continue to run...? I ask this question every year...
NSX GT500 is killed off by organisers. Maybe S2000GT?

Bathurst and the Rx7

Why does the FD Rx7 have the name of a small country town 3 hours west of Sydney Australia...Bathurst?

They dominated a production car race for three years in a row and produced arguably the best ever version of the RX7 in the process (the SP).

Check this Video of an Exige racing a HSV V8 Commodore (same as new Camaro) then are overtaken by the FD in 2007 support race(Spin ). It shows the difference in Power and Weight of production cars. I think the FD is a good mix.

The real winner is the track. Basically its a Touge street circuit with the straights as a long box attatched up and down the mountain. I have grown up watching races (Sa22 @ 4:59) on it. I witnessed all the FD RX7 victories. I've driven the circuit in my FC and my Datsun 510 1600. The elevation changes are amazing. Across the top of "The Mount" as it's know to locals requires balls.

The MR2 also wore the badge for a while but the FD Rx7 has become synonymous with the RB Bathurst designation from 1992 and culminating in the 2001 Type R Bathurst R.

Anubis Upgrade

You guys may remember the Anubis design by AB-Flug that has been through more than a few incarnations.
Well the owner is at it again. The body has not turned into a much wider machine. There are also many other upgrades including a V-Mount and more purple than you can think of. Purple LED rear light clusters... Even the turn signal stsalks have received the purple treatment.

BlogBlog2 The other pink abflug car is also nearing completion here.

RE-Xtreme Beginnings

I blame it all on this picture from Mazda back in the early 1990's. The standard picture hooked me. It used to be my desktop on my massive 14" monitor in 640x480! When you chop it as I have done a million times (this version with 57 Accellerate Pro ), It just looks awesome.

Look away... you'll get addicted all over again.

Sodegaura Forest Raceway

Just near Tokyo there is a new race track. Sodegaura Forest Raceway. It's proving to be pretty popular and many people are trying it out. These images are from the 5th Oct.

The FD guys are setting good times? I don't know? But this 59 second Tsukuba car topped a track day with 30 cars and a non clear run. Running a 1:14 on a drying track is good? time will tell. Noise restrictions also apply.

Check the layout here.  http://www.sodegaura-forest-raceway.com/
It's pretty tight and no real place for a fast car. looks pretty tricky. The video of a few laps are on this blog.

Gunsai Hot Version

Hot version DVD-Day is finally here, but we'll have to wait for the result as usual. Fujita has red stripes???
Amemiya have chosen the Super Greddy 3 kitted Number 9 car for the Gunsai Defense.

It's a serious effort. They spent the 24th setting it up at Tsukuba.

Taniguchi setting a 1:02 flat. Pretty quick on radials. Remember this is being set up for the tight wet road course.

Today Orido was out with Taniguchi in the car battling hard in all cars. They posted as dangerous and exhausted. Orido posted on his blog that he had a successful day and a photo of the RE-Amemiya car. Taniguchi posted a photo of the trophy on the RE-A car. Does this mean RE-Amemiya remains the Touge Monster?

They don't say... But I think maybe..... wait for the video.

CCE - Car Communication Engineering

New Kids on the block CCE have just opened up with a new FD kit. It's pretty cool and incorporates new ideas.

The front bumper features a Super GT deep lip design with built in splitter and undersweep that runs under the car. A radiator shroud can also be installed for good ducting to rad and oil coolers. 10mm wide fenders feature large rear air outlets and a small YMS (Yellow Hat) style rear wing completes the picture.

http://www.cce-web.com/ should be up soon.
