7's Day - 7&8 Meeting Gallery

1st order of the day, Dyno the cars to check power classes.

Then some qualifying. This RE-Amemiya/Feed combo with TE37 is awesome.

This RE-A body car wears some strange front fenders. I still don't know what they are after many years.
RE-A Widebody is pretty smooth.

This old A-spec took my eye too.

Judas car sitting on the grid. looks cool with it's vertex Ridge kit.

Then it's race time. Here they come.

A little congested but power separated classes should produce tight racing.

Not much room up the inside. Shortly after the Yellow FD was punted off the track.

Check out the great gallery on the 7&8 blog. http://ameblo.jp/rx-7meeting/

7's Day - Kansai Style

When FD's ride in groups on the highway it's always very cool. In Kansai the expressway system is just as popular as the C1 and on Sevens day they all head to Osaka's version of Daikoku Futo.

These Afflux V and IV kitted cars looked awesome. Brings back memories of Playstaion2 "Zero"

Cruising to their destination.

Everyone else was waiting as they cruised into the Parking Area. Nice entrance.

Up close the afflux IV and V couldn't be more different, but somehow unmistakably FD.

Other tuners like Odula were there too. Not only the Feed guys.

Definately the best looking Kansai FD at the moment with this Yellow Panda style Advan RS.

All these guys will be at Central circuit come Saturday and Kobe SAB soon.

Later some outdoor pics

I prefer the Afflux kit with the GT wing. It balances the massive size of the widebody very nicely. 18" Advan RGII on the Feed circuit car don't really match.

19" gold advan RS like the red car are a must for the size of the kit.
Most Kansai runners have blogs on Abeba (a terrible blog system). Here are some Links
Hope you are enjoying the sevens day madness.

7's Day - Tsukuba Lap

I was lucky enough to get a ride on Tsukuba at 7's Day 2009 with RIALES.
These guys were running RX7 and RX8 around Tsukuba on the day.

It's very impressive how much grip New Neova radials have. I was sliding around the normal passenger seat like a monkey. Classic shot heading under the bridge in the RX8.

And heading up to the final hairpin which we drifted around. Tanoshii Deshita! (It was fun!)
I must thank my driver again and check out their site. http://ameblo.jp/ism-riales/
Some of the other possible ride along cars included Drift Samurai's FC, Pan Speed FC, RE-A Boost up cars and a few more. We were a last minute addition to ride so choice was limited.

7's Day Tsukuba Video

7's Day 2009 RE-Wars

This is by no means all that happened. There was a 7 Race and an 8 Race. And of course the TA-2 from Revolution that somehow eluded my video. Damn.

7's Day - RE雨宮 Boost Up 9号

Next feature for 7's day was my favourite FD. I somehow took more pictures of this than anything else. It seemed to follow me around or vice versa.
This car is the newest demo FD around, being completed just a month or so ago. The lime green definately grabs attention.

On the track it looks right at home, but remember the SGIII kit and boost up variants are the cars thet maintain the Touge Monster titles and are prepared primarily for street use.

I love the lines of the the SGIII kit and the carbon highlights it well. I'm not sure I'll go so far to say that I love green and black but the last silver version was among the best ever.

From above you can see the purpose venting that takes air directly away the intercooler.
Early in the day the car was in and out of the pits as RE-Amemiya were searching for and trying for a premium attack. On a very hot day, fastest in class, 1:02 on radials was already on the board by lunch time with Taniguchi and crew setting times.

Nice flamage from the rear.

Car becomes more rounded while being wider overall. It was interesting that Enkei GTC offsets were rather high for this car. Heaps of room at the rear. Usually what happens when running the same rubber front and rear of an fd.

Nice subtle graphics on the door. But what's the point with a car this loud anyway. It's like putting lip stick on Angelina Jolie. Doesn't really need it to get attention.

Cruising through the paddock on a day like this with time attack cars around. Attention is always elsewhere.

Engine bay is "New Car" clean

Around Lunch the Super GT replica was attacked for it's rear wing in an attempt for more speed. Changed the appearance somewhat.
Ama-san thought Taniguchi needed soap for something?

7's Day - Advan

The Advan Booth always has nice stuff. Their RX7 is well known.

Fitted with deep RS-D in 19" it shows the limit of streetable rubber for the FD is really 18"
The wheels are really just a tiny bit too large.

I am not really a fan of the deep dish RS-D. I prefer deep RS or RGII.

However the more interesting thing on the Advan booth was the F15. Now looks like it's going to be available in Matt Black. Very Very Very Very cool. Now forged too. I think that just equals unaffordable.
