Mazda SD3s

My SD3s is a lightweight, 2 door, short wheelbase sports car with a Naturally Aspirated 20b-MSP Renesis powerplant that makes it a touge munching machine. With the lifting of the self-imposed 280hp limit, 350hp would be a nice target to obtain.

This red prototype version maintains the FD style rear window and reversed B-pillar to match the current and previous FC style. 19" rims are standard a a low front splitter finishes the car's styling.

The following blue design was born from the first but the front air dam took all the work. merging and extending the original ended up similar to the mazdaspeed design (which wasnt out when I designed the beast) and the centre section was kept separated for the addition of a splitter at a later date. I hope my designs emulate the new Rx-7 to come when Mazda brings back the true rotary sports car.

With Ama-san hoping for a true 300hp car and Mazda constantly monitoring what Japanese tuners such as HKS are doing with the Rx-8, the show car stylings of the Senka give a good indication that inovation may give the new car a few interesting features. However I hope they retain some of the styling features of the FD. The recent additions of turbocharged, hydrogen Renesis engines and the MSP turbo piston engines in the rest of their line up suggest Mazda will have to move soon to change their performance benchmark from the Mazda MPS 3(Altezza) turbo hatch.

Mazda has stated that the rotary is their identity and if they built a car to surpass the Rx-8, it would be a new Rx-7, so there is hope on the horizon. Bring it on Mazda. We are waiting.
