Tsukuba Lap Times
Web Site Categories:

Mazda - History
Tsukuba is used as Japan's Performance Bench Mark. The 2000m Course is a tight and fast challenging course where usually a sub 1minute lap is considered fast.
How fast is an normal FD on street tyres and a PRO driver.
2002 BSpec 1'07 (RE01)
1999 RS 1'06.43
1999 R 1'05.84
1995~6 RS 1'09.16
1991~2 1'07.35
Time Attack is S-Tyre (Semi Slicks) Recently qualifying compound.
2008 Pan Speed 55.3 (TA Movie)
2007 R-Magic Pink 4 55.7 (55.974) (57.9 in a race)
2008 Revolution 56. (2008 super Battle)
2002 RE-Amemiya 2000TA 56.8 (Shakedown) (2002 Movie)
1999 RE-Amemiya Super G7 58.6
2009 Maru FD 57.9
2003 RE-A 3rotor 58.110 (TA Movie) (Race NA vs Turbo)
The first Video above shows. (all are much faster in the dry)
2004 Fujita Single 1'00.480 Semi Wet
2004 RE-A AC7 1'00.769 Semi Wet
Compare
2004 mines GTR (ultimte benchmark) 59.584 Semi Wet 57.8 Dry
2004 Auto Select 1'01.074
This shows Rwd is a good competitor but you still need more power to run with a GT-R.
Other Videos around include the Hot Version vol67 in 2003 Part 2 Part 3
There are a bunch of boost up cars that run around the 1'04~1'01 mark

Comparing
Comparing times at Tsukuba is only relevant for about a One to Two year period. Advancements in Tyre technology account for '01~'02 seconds per lap, Aero has also advanced.
To compare Time Attack, Street and and Race cars is also difficult.
Check this Champions Battle in 1997. My favourite Best Motoring Race.
In 1997 Castrol GT Supra was restricted 430ps. 0~400 was 10.4s Tsukuba dissapears in 57s on Slicks. (Many will say you can do that time in a tuned FD these days.) In 2009 Super GT has 500hp Slicks are 2 seconds a lap faster and aero would probably bring it up to 53~54ish using the HKS Evo as a guide with '53.999.
To compare is best to use common sense.
F40 used to manage 1.04

MASSIVE Tokyo AutoSalon 2009 Report!

TAS... The Tokyo Auto Salon is the pinacle of Japanese tuning. This year was a little less atmospheric but there was still more than enough to please the fans.
RE-Amemiya always has the first booth in Hall 1. This day was no different.
The first car I saw was my favourite. The Super Greddy III Version II.
The finish on this car was wonderful. The silver is very bright and complements the Enkei GT-C.
Super GT is GO. Ogura Clutch were promoting well. Super GT 7 took pride of place.
This car is still fantastic.
Curvy and straight at the same time.
Vented everywhere.
And for god's sake take some pride in presentation. It's just very very very very rough. Even for a race car.
This new Tamiya RC was better prepared. ha ho hi he hu.
It took a good photo though.
RE-Amemiya's awaited Genki Seven caused me a little heart attack. I couldn't believe they stuck a piece of plywood over a set of wheels. The bolts were huge Just Like the Tamiya R/C Car.
I tried to find positives. From the front the car was awesome and the lines looked great.
Thank god when I got to the other side it wasn't so bad. A lovely set of GT-C were displayed. Even thought they were drilled with the bolts still hanging out.
This is the only angle it looks ok. I always write the same review about this one. NEXT.
GT Replica still looks good. It's been on the track a fair bit though.
The fenders are huge on this car.
But it's the crazy stereo that gets the real attention.
R-Magic only had the D1 car outside. Front wheels were WAY too wide. Look at the NON fit at the front.
Yellow Gram Lights 57 D.
Rear gate has no window. Better have a rear view camera or that diffuser is history.
Front is wide. Easily accommodates the GTR size rims.
This bonnet from RS-Pantera houses something special.
NA
And 50% bigger.
This rear centre piece was interesting and the rear hatch matched the hood paint.
I'll stick with yellow theme and move on to Knight Sports.
The new diffuser is only the start of new mods.
Underneath it covers a large surface, but it's up front where the interest is.
Look past the canards, the V-Mount and past the filter.
Past the M for "Monster Garage" and find the belts from the crank.
To the new SUPERCHARGER. Soon to undergo full tests. It removes the stigma of insane turbo temps in summer for warmer climates. We shall see what develops.
TAS is not only about cars. With most come a display of a different kind.
The Looking FD paint is still amazing.
Crazy LED indicators flash in sequence.
Super Autobcas Omiya does crazy stuff.
This car is last years but still looks fresh with new mural.
RE-30 reflects a nice big brake package.
Interior is packed with screens.
And I do mean packed.
I showed everyone this car in development stage. But the result is wild.
The front and rear make this car look really LOW.
Even with the MASSIVE work rims, the car is on the deck.
Crazy rear arches and deep extensions complement everything.
But the rear has some crazy stuff going on. Wild side lights. (we all thought would be tyre smoke exits.)
thin LED stop lights in the original positions.
Nicely trimmed interior makes it a nice driving space. Good work SAB Omiya.
Rims are the New Advan RS-D. These deep dished mosters look great. They were fitted to many cars at the show.
