Sumi-e

Passing the time on the Japanese train system used to be hell. But at least I have iphone games like this to help the time fly by these days.

I've featured Sumi-e before.  It's finished very quickly and sometimes frustrating like any game. It could easily have a few more levels too. Just a couple of replay shots help feel the mood.

GT5 Photmode

More GT5, Some parts are good. Mainly the online mode and photomode. The rest is just a hunt for credits to accumulate crap.

To get the flat black you need to buy the Lexus LF-A or get lucky. This spirit R has the splitter and canard set.

To get sleepy eyes, You have to stop the replay exactly at the right moment.

To get a shot like this you have to choose and time it carefully.

Drifting in Monaco. He He.

But you can't go too hard before you pause for a photo or the car damage is noticible.

Playing with light and dark is cool, the angles and camera settings are quite realistic.

The damage to the light can be seen here. parts deform rather than break.

Intentional destruction here.

I have one FAN. this guy in the red shirt was going crazy! YEAH YEAH YEAAAAAAAH!

GT5 Pictures

Drift Drift Drift. GT5 is cool. Not real, But cool.

Highland Fling.

Or a german sausage.

Tracksides are still empty. Doesn't look real at all.

I usually live at Autumn Ring Mini... Check that track in the lobby. I also usually open my own room. RE-Xtreme FD3s Drift when I'm online.

Art is everywhere

Oops. Lucky it's only GT5 Underbody is detailed.

Options are great for photos. These two are the exact same position.

You can get to most angles.

Some details are less that real.  These lights outside the hanger for example.

Some photos are almost real.

Lighting can be interesting.

Wangan Runs are much more boring that real life. Yes, even in a one make race.

GT-5 FD3s RX-7 Drift Settings.

As I have discovered, there are a lot of you out there drifting in the GT5 online space with FD3s.

I am not saying these are the best or even good settings, but they are a starting point.

Point 1. Power vs Usable Power.
I chose to keep the smallest turbo upgrade for the best instant wheelspin

Point 2. Traction and Control vs Slide
Comfort Sports tyres give good results if you keep the contact patch on the rear.
This setting can manage fast sustained drifts and long handbrake applications. The rest is driver skill.

Still playing with this one.
Basically the same suspension and mods but '91 has less power.
I selected the mid range turbo for a little more grunt.
Any bigger turbo and when the revs drop off, it wont boost quick enough to spin 'em
So I made a few mods to make the engine spool a bit quicker.

I have also seen a lot of RE-Amemiya Touge Monsters tuned for drift and the Super GT car. Had some nice tandem runs but my spec is faster with more traction under sliding.

Please let me know any better settings.

GT5 - Update

Welcome to the GT-5 post. I'll update this as I go.

First impression, looking good.

All too familiar at the moment though. It took 4 races to reach level 3. Older Premium 1991 FD3s is available now.

Premium cars have awesome detail.

Photo mode is comprehensive, but I'm just shooting images from my camera of the Monitor.

You can add some spoilers to some cars, but the GT Auto is basically the same as before.
no crazy body mods. The options for the FD are some stupid canards and a lame 2 versions of 90's period GT wings. Wheels are interesting. I stuck RAYS VR. G2 on my competition yellow 91 FD3s.

I found out about painting and wheels, You can only do a lot of mods to Premium Cars. That means 91 FD or Spirit R, You can paint them any colour.

Driving physics are good and THANKS THANKS YES YES YES!!!! they fixed the grass physics.

I can do crazy circle work again!!!

stay tuned and check back regularly.

Already level 5 after the Sunday cup, Karting and FR challenge in beginners. I won everything straight away.
too easy? It will get more difficult.

Tsukuba with sus and 372hp first attempt in the light tune FD. many many mistakes still yields 1.07
I think times will get crazy...

I'll start a group for RE-Xtreme FD3s events when I spend more time and work it all out. "RE-Xtreme" is my online tag. You can share cars and setups with friends.

Last night I was experimenting with the Lounge section with some friends. It was pretty cool although applies to "PS Network Friends Only". Options were limited. Physics are not as accurate it seems in the online version. Maybe... subjective.

The PS3 Controller is almost useless in NASCAR races.

I have 487hp FULL TUNE 91 FD in Drift mode. Fun Fun Fun.

I have 560hp FULL TUNE 02 FD Spirit R in Race mode.

Front Splitter is better design but you can't increase the down force on the front. Only the rear which of course makes the car understeer.

I tried 3 laps at Tsukuba on slicks and it dissappeared in 53.927.. Record? I made many mistakes, so this time will have 3 seconds or more in it. HAHA.

At least you get an idea how fast these guys are going.

Finally

The Normal cars can only get a maximum spring rate of 15.5 kgmm
The RE-Amemiya FD3s has spring rates around 20 kgmm
But you can't tune that. The touge car is pretty well balanced.

Some hates.
The constant shaking of the screen over small bumps. It's horrendous!!!! It will probably make me stop playing soon. Epileptics be ware. Especially on the nurburg ring and Le Mans.
Can't preview paint changes before purchase.

Load times.
The car graphics are ok but the shadows are still terrible. It flaws the realism as the cars "shake"

sorry... if you tried to contact... I forgot the hyphen tag is "RE-Xtreme"

I'll be loading up Deep Forest and Route 5 and 7

I was hoping the Mazdaspeed Type II would be there, but obviously wasn't ported.
What kind of wheels remains a secret? Can we change them?

I know I'll be dissappointed because I have played it all before. Is there really anything new?
But I'll still buy it and try to play it for a while.

it better hold my attention like the Amemiya FD3s drifting in GRID, I can play that for ever.

Look for RE-Xtreme online... I'll probably be driving an FD3s.

Racedriver GRID

This game is AWESOME! Of course I have a Dark Green FD3s for drifting.
The FD in the game has no grip, but it's perfect for this.

I could play it alllllllll day. Touge Drift.

The cars are insane in this game. FD interior has a drift box. Greddy E-Manage and some other gauges. ALL of which function like real gauges. Keys racing wheel also.

But this is just fun.

And this. you can do whole drift mountain runs with ease once you learn the course.
And if you don't your car ends up like this. (well it actually took a long time to get it this bad.) But look at the detail. Basically every part is faithfully replicated. My amemiya Sleek lights never stood a chance. haha.

GT5 Prologue Spec II

Japan gets the major update...known as GT5 Prologue "Spec II"
But more importantly we get the FD and drifting contests. I'll be drifting a bit today...

This is a joy and a dissapointment. The guys at GT5 teased us with the promise of an FD tuned car and the RE-Amemiya Touge monster. Deciding to pull these two meant there is only a stock "semi" tunable fd to drift around.

Hmmm. I guess at least we got that. But it is other cars like the Amuse GT-1 and tuned versions of cars that I am driving.

I HOPE there is a spec III soon.

GT5 Prologue

GT5 Prologue for the World Market will include the following.

CAR TUNING. DRIFT MODE. SPLIT SCREEN.

2002 Spirit R FD3s (normal and Tuned versions)
RE-Amemiya FD3s Touge Monster
and competitors like Mines GTR34 and Amuse S2000 GT1.
But will it run on my Japanese PS3 or will there be a download for the forgotten Japanese market?
