Hurricane 7 ish

I couldn't help myself. A nip here, A tuck there.

I had to photoshop the car. I only lowered it and changed the wheels to white GT-C Enkei centre lock with slicks. The HKS GTR35 runs slicks, Why not. It would go well at the Macau GP tuners battle.

New Year Check-Point

I did a bit of a photoshoot today, then I did some chops and I added a couple of posts over on the Version III blog. Have a vote and let me know what direction you guys prefer. I've pretty much decided to go with the below image, but it's good to get more opinions.

I love it when a plan comes together.

Merry Xmas Inspiration.

Concept time. Red White Green and Black is kind of Xmasy... I'm sure Santa wouldn't mind this for some fun sliding.

Version III direction is finally final. If I change again, it will only be with a major influx of cash.

The race image is still in mind. Since SEMA I was playing with Mazdaspeed colours for my own car.
RP-01 in White with basic Mazdaspeed stripes.

With RS-D would be nice but unaffordable.

I'm always thinking about something.

I thought about a road rally targa rally car. I had the idea of a gruppe B night stage monster rally car. If gruppe B was still around it maybe something like this in Monte Carlo form. Do luck have a new rear spoiler not unlike this one.  Green SSR inspiration from vaughn's RTR.

I also had a look back to the '70s Fuji Speedway of old and came up with this variation on the Savanna RX-3 livery. Deeeeeep TE37 in effect.

I also decided to update the Historic SA22c Daytona design concept to an FD widebody car that wouldn't be out of place in an IMSA race.

This one has deep Gun Blue Rays 57G

And the Orange / Red version with 3 piece SSR.

Sema MazdaSpeed 6 from Tri-point inspiration in 2 forms.

BBS in effect here.

On RE-Xtreme Version III I'm always updating something there have been many others over the past year.

I still love this Combat 7:13 Fighter version with 19" xc-8 work rims.

More as a tribute to historic liveries, I replicated the Art Car as the M1 was always a favourite.

And the basis for the RE-Xtreme headers. GULF Livery from GT-40

Marlboro for the smoker out there. GT-R rims

NewMan Porshe 956 didn't look this good.

Super GT Castrol supra is almost the same...

My own version of the 787B GT Sports design.

There are and will be more.

FD Pace Car

The FD3s Indy Pace Car. I haven't done a concept chop for a while, but I had 5 mins spare.

This one only has a Border Type 4 kit and GT wing. Volk Racing wheels with colour coded inlay.
Admittedly these are very poor chops. but there was a little inspiration for this, that all started in the summer of 1978.

RE-Xtreme Project 7:13.

 RE-Xtreme Project 7:13.

What makes a car like this one divide people.  People these days judge very quickly and say their feelings. Including me. Recent comments on SpeedHunters.com reflect that.

These days the options and variation in the tuning WORLD can create any style you love. My style is heavily influenced from JDM Drift and Time Attack. I will be using this for my next project 7:13.

I feel the BN sports kit retains the curves of the FD3s. In fact it absolutely slams them and over accentuates every one, then it adds the low and deep flares that made the drift style famous. I chose an accentuated aero-euro Mazdaspeed style rear wing for this chop to retain some celebration of the 1990's period and what serious track RX7 doesn't feature some kind of sleek lights. RAYS TE37 SL wheels were recently released in 19" designs. RAYS epitomize (did you think that word was wrong?) the Japanese scene and the panda colouring with a carbon vented bonnet is another example originating in and almost defining Japanese tuning.

For my project "7:13"B I added some raised lettering under the paint for subtlty and modified the front bar for my own stamp on this. Rear bar will be heavily modded along the Knight Sports line and of course there will be a monster diffuser eventually. About the only thing I haven't chopped here are some craft square mirrors.

So this is the direction I want to take for my project. I have been flip flopping between normal or wide body, but the answer is both. 7:13A will be something 100% stock. Maybe a renewed 199x Efini Rx7 and this Widebody 7:13B Drift/Attacker.

I'll be trying to finalise everything and kick it off before the end of the 2010.

New Mazda

Nagare is gone. Kodou  "Soul of Motion" is here. This is my RE-Xtreme "Shinari" 7

Mazda's new design language is a little change from the widemouth happy smile from the last 10 years.

It is of course very dissapointing that is has been 10 years have almost past and there is still no sports car in the Mazda line up.

Unfortunately for RE-Xtreme readers is that the first concept with this is a huge coupe. I tried to chop it but the dimensions are so rediculously large that it doesn't translate well to a possible FD.

I chopped the rear lowered the bonnet about 3 inches. the car 3 inches shortened the rear by 10inches.

The interior is very FD stlye however. I could imagine this as an evolution.

lets see what mazda brings in the next sports car.

RE-Xtreme Efini RX-37 Concept.

If you have been following my other Version III blog then you will know I've been obsessed recently with the BN sports kit and race car thoughts. Race cars need race car image, so what is the ultimate livery for the RX7 FD3s.

The rotary legend comes from a few places. I think most imortantly were the older RX3s that performed very well in Japan and America. IMSA racing and LE Mans seemed to build the Rotary Legend. Banning some of these cars only supported this. I tried many designs from a mix of LE-Mans Legends and Iconic liveries. But this is the ultimate in my book (for today anyway).

The 787B was run in Japan after the #55 "Renown" car won Le Mans. While this is a great livery, it doesn't reference the FD well. However, 1991 coincided with the release of the RX7 Efini FD3s in Japan. The 787B was painted to feature the efini badge in the Sportcar World Championship (SWC) race at Autopolis , The actual livery was green and white

So taking inspiration from the RX3 and the 787B "Efini", I developed this concept. The front bumper features an enlarged shark nose RX3 like grill and the body wears modern black side skirts (rough reference to RX3 over fenders.) and the final grey Efini livery is a derivation for ultimate combat mode.

This one above features a more LM style with 24Hr Lighting and some old school wheel covers and wing reminiscent of the early 90's period. The front end doesn't work so well with these style lights because we are not used to seeing lights way above the grill on an RX3.

This normal style race version seems to work well with an old school MS Type II rear wing. The chrome accents really work well.

This was the base for my funky upgraded RX-37 concept. Bonnet line on this is changed also although the B-pillar is standard unlike the others. Kind of hides the lights with the carbon bonnet.

FD Love Bug

I don't think Ama-san had "Herbie" in mind when he designed the AC '98 7 body kit.  But he should have!

We all know how close the Porsche and VW heritage runs. So with just a few subtle changes you can have something awesome that would certainly turn a head or two. Debadged most people would be none the wiser for a new beetle.

I think the round rear would work well too, but I fattened the standard rear with some Ab-flug style rear fender work. The Nascar rims work well too with massive sidewall stretch fitting the bill for the track.

However for some cruising, these "Herbie" decal added, deep dish 19"x11" steel wheels with super stretched 235 tyres get some cred. while the chrome centres, give a more authentic feel to little 'ol 53.

I wonder if it car run upside-down in a tunnel??

RE-Xtreme TA Concept

OK. World Time Attack is approaching and some wicked cars will be heading to prove their best times.

While most of us can never attempt to get the best time. I would like to hit up something like this. In fact the exterior modifications will only run up limited expense and costs could be kept to a minimum.  Carrying on from the LM concept. BN Sports DEFEND Wide body kit is among the cheapest around and depending on the level you finish at could become something fun in the TA / Weekend race realm.

These days the new TE37 SL has been shaved and thickened, refined and made current. And if there is ever an ultimate JDM wheel this is it. So this concept will have a set of these. The Defend kit can certainly accomodate 18x11 +18 and maybe even needs some spacers.

The red version is actually pretty stock. With the addition of a front splitter 2000mm rear wing.
Both cars wear Craft Square mirrors, a fave of mine. The Yellow version adds Uras style canards, ducted side skirts, better intercooler super GT style ducting and bonnet venting although the BN version is not bad. There is an unseen flat undertray and rear difusser for downforce heaven. I didn't bother about lights. Just remove the internals for a weight reduction.

Red version is stock. There has to be a million stock FD engines in the world for spares and they should be cheap. There were 800,000 fd3s made. Run at reliable low boost these will still be fun in a car lightened to 1050kg or so. Yellow is high tune 700+hp 13b single turbo if you get the urge and finances to go further.

For me, something like the red car will satisfy my racetrack desires. I definately realise that there are many more costs involved than just body, wheels and engine but these are an inspiration point. You will note some traqmate sponsorship to improve my driving more than the car too. So I think I've set a goal for myself. It may take some years and some hard work but there is a target.

Is this RE-Xtreme Version III? Maybe.

Russ.

Pushing the concept a little further led to Border-Racing Type III light covers and RX8 headlight parts. (I guess I need lights) Carbon side skirt exensions

I considered this concept for a one make race series like A1GP. each country represented. Could be cool!

General FD

If there is ever a legend car, it's the General Lee. Imagine if those Duke boys got into this FD. It would definately be through the window!

As a kid I must have watched every episode 20 times, but I don't really remember too much except Rosco P Coltrane..."You got your ears on Flash...?"

Is anyone going to start making upsized old school rims...like these hurricanes?? It seems inevitable, but no one has done it yet. Maybe thats a business oportunity! Donor car from SP engineering receives, wheels, bull bar and general lee markings. I also incorpoated the cool revolving lights from the RT charger and vents on the sides.

I thought about big CIBIE lights on the car all over... but maybe thats another story...

Where is that river xing. Yeeeeeeee Haaaaaaa!

FD MAX Interceptor

"Two days ago, I saw a vehicle that would haul that tanker. You want to get out of here? You talk to me."

The original Mad Max film has always been a favourite. To recreate the Mad Max interceptor on an FD base you'd need some wide wide wide fenders to even come close to an XA,B,C series falcon coupe.

So I'd start with a BN, D-MAX or Sexy Style wide body to get the XB Coupe rear fender line, Add a roof spoiler, Modified Border Type III front bar quad exhausts on each side and of course a 351 Cleveland V8 with Supercharger surrounded by the XB bonnet scoops. Don't forget the steel wheels and BF Goodrich T/A tyres and a stipped interior with a shot gun or two.

You could also use a couple of tanks to hijak some gas from the port For this I'd modify the Shojicom small window rear frp hatch and include some elements from the XB rear for authentucity. Check the cool original coupe gallery.

Back to the Future

If any car is worthy of a Back to the Future re-make it is the Scoot 4-rotor Fd3s.

The car can certainly hit 88mph in no time at all anll you need is the 1.21 gigawatts. I'm currently thinking of a plan to go back and do some funky stuff.

There may be more movie versions to come. If anyone remembers the old RX7 files site. It spurs the imagination.

Here is my movie post on my other craziness blog.

Old School Concept

To me, JDM OLD SCHOOL FD3s means curves and dish reminiscent of the early JTCC and JSCC cars.

To bring this look up to date you could add some larger wheels now available and some choice parts to complete the picture.

The starting point for this chop was a 100% RE-Amemiya Demo car from 1994 Auto Salon in green. Check the interior. I removed the AW7 wheels and really old style front bar then added some more of my favourite pieces. So here is the list I would use for the exterior and some interior touches.
Circa 1993 parts.
RE-雨宮 AD Fender
RE-雨宮 AD Step D2 Center  with RE-雨宮 AD Rear Fender Trim  and RE-雨宮 AD Rear Skirt
RE-雨宮 AD Hood R. (My fave discontinued)
RE-雨宮Rear Spoiler Type II  or GT Style
RE-雨宮Sleek Light Kit
Kouki rear light cluster
Circa 2000 parts.
RE-雨宮 AD Mirror PRO
RE-雨宮 Facer 9
Other
RE-雨宮 white face 300kph gauges.
RE-雨宮 D-Shape steering wheel.

Wheels are changable. You need 2 or 3 Sets

For cruising... SSR Professor S1 in a meaty (Modern 19") deep dish and you'd have something pretty attention grabbing.

For fast driving or maybe a track day. RAYS Volk Racing RE-30

or the Definition of JDM are TE37 in Bronze!

And even though RS Watanabe don't make a large wheel. This looks incredible.

The only carbon you would see would be the end plates on the front bumper and some dry looking interior panels. This something I am seriously thinking about for the future. For me, it has curves, and aggression and covers all the periods and inspiration for my FD obsession.

After seeing these I'm even liking green more than white... maybe..
