Circuit Meet - Mobara

Mobara is a cool little track that's a drifters dream. Corner after corner of tight and flowing sideways feast. This was the first time I took the FD on the track and I wanted to get aquainted with its characteristics, so I chose the drift class. I wouldn't have to worry about Atsushi's 500hp GTR bearing down on me as he goes for a quick lap.

There were a few FDs there on the day including Sanai works who doing some tuning on their Fighting FD. 2 in drift class including myself and 2 in circuit class. This track is more fun I think for drifting as it doesn't really have a straight to get any real speed and you spend most of the lap in 2nd anyway. Atsushi's (Nishiki Suspension Tuning) GTR was really unsuited for this track.

A fun little day in Chiba.

R&R 2003

Rotary and Roadster 2003. This was an awesome event that I attended in 2003. I knew about this one and I convinced Marc Brupbacher from www.neweramedia.com to accompany me here and film the event.

After a good three hour Fd drive at reasonable speed we arrived at the Ebisu circuit in northern Japan near Sendai. This place is known for its 4 circuits that house a D1 round and the BIGx event. This cold place in the mountains is no place to be when its wet either. A terrible day had the racers running with lights on to overcome poor visibility and S-tyres were trying to cope with the lack of traction. All the tuners attended and they all were displaying the new tuning options for the Rx8 which was more or less on debut.

Revolution, Yumekobo, Kazama, Vertex/Carmake T&E, R-Magic, Fujita, Amemiya and Pan Speed were in attendence among lesser known Kagotani and Sanai works. I was in awe of the Fds on display that I had been lucky enough to find here. The japanese open pit philosophy also allows you to get up close and chat to anyone and everyone, buy parts and relax.
There was also a drifting class with a performance by D1 driver Asamoto.

Rotary and Roadster splits the day into race events for the Fd driving public in Standard Turbo and Tuned class while the tuners fight it out in the Shop class. The Shop class was cancelled as the fog rolled in late in the day but the time attack sheets had Amemiya on top and Pan speed close behind.

You can catch footage of this event on Skylines and Skyscrapers available from Newera and
I managed to get a feature into an Aussie magazine, Fast Fours & Rotaries. This is a great event where the Rotary fraternity goes all out for supremacy. Don't miss it.

Rotary & Roadster 2003 - Track Time

Pan Speed on track in Rotary Roadster 2003. This is the boost up car. I managed to take some good shots even though the weather was freezing and attrocious.

430 hp 3 Rotor NA vs 500hp Feed monster in the wet... hmm.

Pan speed going around the outside of the Feed Rx8

Some fast privateers.

And a lot of practice.

Sanai works time attacker.

Revolution was a partner with ARC using many of their products.

Amemiya monster,

Pan Speed time attack SPL. Amazing!

This car was a budget build for Young Version magazine. There were some cool magazines in 2003.

The masters in action.

the TA-1 was a street car. Sometimes it's still hard to imagine these cars on the street.

Sanai's new fighting FD.

Feed with HID ablaze.

More three rotor buzz.

The car was running in grip and drift classes.

C-West parts and a very unique colour.

OMG!

Replica braking.

Check the water... this day was ugly. Ebisu nishi course requires buckets.

This was actually intended sliding.

And wheel spin.

Back in action... Garage Hiro was a unique kit born from other car styles.

I like this shot 3 in one during the street class race.

The monster was an effective weapon with neovas.

This re-a tuned car was also fast.

Rotary and Roadster attracted a field of about 30 RX7s.

I can't pick just one...

Rotary & Roadster 2003 - Pit Action

Time for some more looks under the bonnets. Revolution TA-1 getting some assistance.

FD3s, RX8 and FC and others were all running in the extreme wet. Revolution next to Sanai works.

The older time attacker and the new fighting FD in the background. A bit dirty after a slight off track excursion. For sale at powervehicles. Cheap! If someone buys my street car, It'll be mine.

I think the PAN speed RX7 loves to be off the ground.

It's hard to get a pic with wheels on it.

Still looks awesome though.

Dreamworks Yumekobo street cars.

Both wearing the new kits. Normal wing on this one with nice AVS T5

MY FAVOURITE! 2003 refreshed version. Hood 9 and a few new dry carbon pieces.

The ULTIMATE C1 street race car.

JGTC 500 class for the street

JGTC 300 Class for the street... Maybe not. It's a bit loud for registration.

This was the time of RE-Amemiya Domination. Touge Monster legends were born.

Mountain Winner!

R-Magic supporting another fast car. The beginnings of a privateer greatness

Feed awesomeness. Advan RG and the Feed widebody.

S-tyres not needed today. Radials are better.

 Time to head out. Sanai...

RE-Amemiya also gave passenger rides on the day. Fun Fun...

Next up are the real action.

Track Time.
