TAS 2004

Tokyo Auto Salon 2004 saw the Fd get even better. As 2003 had thrown up all sorts of new ideas that drove the Fd into the spotlight, 2004 saw the refinement of style that cemented it back on top. Veilside again showed up in force with their dumped machines fitted with air suspension, 19" rims and that D1 bodykit covered in Sakura. You can't get more outragous than that. Red leather interiors just continued to go further. Yokomaku-san's girfriend drove this luxury Fd, complete with ......... Automatic transmission! I can forgive one sin.

Fujita engineering brought out the curvacious widebody with the latest Advan RS 18x10 +18 offset rims all around. I sat down and studied for ages. Feast sat right beside them with their awesomely fat machine and that best of all engine bay. Just along the row saw RE-Amemiya's white time attack car nestled beside the Scoot 4 Rotor. Hmmm. Just too much for little old me. So I went for a walk and found a few young girls to calm me down in front of the Final Connection Fd with it's wide-body appeal.

Kazama had the spider widebody gull wing draping with girls and it was the same at Amemiya, where the street beat Rx7 was adorned with many a lovely accessory. The Green Porsche front circuit spec machine fronted Amemiya's booth but both Pan Speed and R-Magic also had large displays. Grenade, M-Sports and others kept the new aero kits coming and AR-F bought their circuit spec NA machine along. Closeby, KSP's 9 second Drag machine sported two monstourous turbines that propel this machine to ludicrous speeds.

But the 2004 show saw the Rx8 starting to emerge and no Fd to be seen on the Mazda stand. Was this the end? NO!
