TAS 2003 - Part #2

GP Sports demo car took the Mazda stock look and anhanced it slightly to good effect.

With stock lines retained and that centre number plate removed, the car looked wonderful.

The lip spoiler and canard combo directed airflow past the front wheels and into the brake ducts.

.
BIG SSR wheels were probably the best design they made. Unfortunaltely discontinued.

The rear wing was flexible to provide downforce at low speed and low drag at highspeed. I don't think they still make these either.

Continuing the white theme was ings+. This kit was built for their JAF approved super taikyu race entry in ST3 N1 class racing. Ducting is totally functional. Large central opening for air intake with a flat bottom for reduced drag and increased downforce. An undertray with NACA ducting for 50mm brake pickups as well as brake duct pickups in the side skirts also.

Vented bonnet also extracted heat for reliability.

You can see the amount of air capable of escape here.

FD3s version craft square mirrors for racing!

rear bumper incorporates a diffuser opening.

INGS+ wings are Voltex GT wings on the car.

Knight sports displayed their new street tuned car. (the man behind knight sports behind the car.)

Of course the key element of KS tune is the V-Mount.

Great detail on these pieces.

but it doesn't stop there. else where around the car you find super expensive parts like these mirrors.
You never see these on cars. they were almost 3K from memory.

Up front the very functional two-piece TA style front bumper is an excellent choice also.

Carbon bonnet is finished with painted edges for good effect.

This car was a solid package. Knight reflection KS decals are now a trademark on their cars.

Time for some colour. M-Sports Asamoto D1 machine provides.

this car runs minimal lighting for weight savings.

.
front under tray and canards were nice touches to the M-Sports kit.

SSR rims providing awesome effect on this stunning car.

Pan speed always had a booth with their street and circuit spec cars.

I always loved the PAN speed side skirts. some of the best around.

Big power here for tsukuba attack.

Pan speed are located not far from tsukuba so it's their choice for testing.

Products like this wing are their latest developments. Not the street wing in the background. Also chunky.

Not a great shot but hey, you get the idea.

I'll end part 2 with the Rando sports car. This Gymkhana car is just as capable on the big circuit.

Continue to Part 3

TAS 2003 - Part #3

RE-Amemiya is the main man of Japanese Rotary Tuning. As the man responsible for the highest level Super GT entry, Isami-san is the guy who gets it done.

His effort for 2003's custom car entry was this Greddy final 7. I believed like most of us that the FD would be replaced and the titled car would be the last.

The latest wide body was installed on this car with porsche styling and those funky mirrors.

Out back was the diffusser styling of the AC987 and a meaty rear wing

Isami-san's team includes the star dust factory who make a lot of the body parts for RE-A.

And they did a very nice job with this one. Enkei RPf1 complement it nicely.

But the remote controlled electric motor gull wing attracted a lot of attention on this and their other star dust car.

A little slow to operate though.

Beside the main car was this awesome cammo special built for a customer. The owner wears cammo everywhere.

basically these two cars are very simillar and 100% street cars. Although they can run on the circuit and have, they are predominantly street focus as the gull wing adds a lot of kilos

\
Very well executed theme.
Standard ADGT kit is total.

The doors pop out then up.

This Super GT replica also was out the back of the display.

This car runs the Super GT 3 rotor... about 430ps in the time attack car.

interesting colour choice would later change (now owned by a super GT driver).

in 2003 this car ran 58 seconds at tsukuba I think. RE-A sure know how to setup an FD.

You can watch this car in all its screaming glory in option videos.

The last RE-Amemiya car was this boost up SPL with Facer9 front. My favourite.

The mitsu GTO inspired bumper incorporates splitter and canards to good effect.

This was the precursor to the Touge Monster. IMO the real touge SPL.

New side diffussers and carbon parts finished this car nicely.

ed.It's still running strong in 2010 around Tokyo.

Super Autobacs is another company that has no ties to manufacturers. This way they can build ultimate cars.
This one wears R-Magic and a mix of parts. just read the door for the shopping list.

Chiba Naganuma prepped this one.

Love the SSR!

inside was a Defi and audio festival.

Universal air had this car.

T&E had their Vertex release. these cars are always super clean.

Hows this for perfect.

Advan AVS T5 simply look great.

Some bad pics of Besige kit from Wise Square

You can't be always perfect.

I filled a total of 64Mega bytes. WOW.

I'll leave you with Yellow Hat's Mooncraft YMS demo car. This was a turnkey effort with subtle but effective mods.

That finishes the 2003 coverage. It was awesome. get there one day.

Al special

The aluminium special, produced by Mazda in 2003 for the motor show and auto salon, is a prized posession. Where did it go? What happened to it? Who knows? It is potentially the last special Fd3s produced in the Mazda factory.

The Exterior panels including front and rear fenders, doors and bonnet were all produced in aluminum, which when added to the base, lightened the RX-7. Armed with the B-Spec aero parts and the engine from the latest up-to-date Spirit R makes this Fd3s a one of a kind special.

Lead in photos were of a bare skin FD, but the car was painted and vinyl added for the show.

The front fenders are actually 25mm wider each side to accomodate the larget rims and the weight was reduced considerably.
