Rev Speed Super Battle 2010 - Fujita ENG.

Feed. Can you read it? Subtle? NO. Effective Yes.

Early in the day, the track was cold and getting the best grip was tough for some.

The car started the day on the worst colour Advan RGII. Silver and White I can't say is a good combo.

Later in the same morning session, the car re-appeared with Silver Advan RGII which looked the perfect match. We'll take a closer look soon.

As the day progressed, the guys from Fujita Engineering must have been getting frustrated, because while others did only a few laps, the fujita FD fighting spirit had them searching for the 57 second mark.

Lap after Lap, the car came past as I changed position little by little.

Finding different ways to shoot the car.

On their final run a result of 58.001... DAMN! thats 2milliseconds off 57.999 which makes all the difference to motivation. That's gotta have you crying.

Up close, you will notice and be confused why this is not the full tune car. That car was damaged at Okayama in a big crash just a few days ago in the Option Exeddy Cup. The Spirit R after all was the only one remaining.

We probably would have seen much faster times from Fujita so I guess they had a slight run of bad luck.

This car is only using minimal aero too and normal rear fenders and not running massive rubber.

So the achievement is actually quite good. As I've stated before, tyres are much better these days so what was a 59 second car a few years ago (the yardstick fast car) is now a 58 second car. etc etc and we often see high tune cars around the 57 mark

Interior is all FD, just like any road car.

Rear wing is big, but there is no diffusser. Maybe there is more traction available.

The feed bonnet is still the smoothest around and suits their continued Front mount intercooler setup.

So you notice that yellow thing in the background.... Whats that?  Thats the draw card.

Competition Yellow is an impact colour. When you decide to use it, the shape better be spot on.

I spotted this in the carpark. I immediately noticed that the 19 Inch Advan RS were scraped! YIKES!

Talk about out of place surrounded by vans. It later was moved into the pit area.

The rear view is still average in my opinion without the GT wing.

And that damn line on the side skirt at the rear still shits me.

The Sagaris style lights are built into the kit and the bonnet extended to replace the lights. Underneath has aluminium covers for the popup section.

This is the best angle. The front is good and flows well.

But I wouldn't say its beautiful by any means.

Fujita san had it up on stands pounding out the poorly modified (sorry) rear guards as they were scraping with huge spacers.

When the Spirit R looks so good, this car is a love hate design.

But this shot still highlights some of the awesomituditynessfully style. low wide and fat can't be bad.

  1. So, Russ, Why doesn't FEED build a purpose built track car like Panspeed and Revolution?

  2. Many reasons.

    1. Money. Time Attack is a waste of money.
    2. They have the race car that they actually race with in 6 hr races. Thats fun.
    3. There is no relation between TA and sales.
time attack is now an expensive proposition, it used to be road cars that ran at tsukuba, now its purpose machines.

  3. hey russ,

just wondering if you know the specs on the spirit R's wheel/tire combination?

    keep up the great coverage!

  4. actually, sorry, found your post. BUT, i do want to ask- are you finding that teams are going more towards 18" wheels now?

  5. Like I said.

    Sizing is basically Money.

    There are advantages to both.

The fastest combo for a near stock machine is actually 18" up front for turn in and 17" for traction at the rear.

Drift use the opposite. Sidewall flex is important.

    Depends on the car setup.

Feed usually run 18" neova 18x9.5 +25 or +22 with 255/35.18 all round so they need the front fenders.
    or
    17" S-tyre 17x9.5 255/40/17

I didn't check at tsukuba look like 18" s-tyres. but sizes will be similar

  6. Practicality, usually leaves people running the same size so if they chew out one edge they can swap the wheels around.

common size in Japan is 255 or 265 on +22~+28

  7. Why so narrow a tire in japan ive seen this trend and ive been wondering how do such powerful cars retain grip??? Shoot my time attack FC runs 275's out back and 255 up front underpanspeed fenders....with 2400lbs and 400whp i light them up from a 60roll....so how can they setup a car with more power and equal to less weight and still grip?

    thanks for any input!

  8. Don't know what tyres you are running.

    Maybe compound, maybe tyre,

    what tyre are you running.

Japans s-tyres are very sticky. My friends don't have too many issues with 400+hp on S-tyres.

    Russ.
